Mission Project Service

mission Project Service

In 2016 the Missionary Oblate Partnership added another ministry to it’s services, taking over the operation dedicated to the service of Catholic missionaries all over the world.  Together with Oblate School of Theology, the Partnership now runs Mission Project Service, an organization that has provided education and training in missionary countries for over 40 years.

Mission Project Service is now an official “outreach” of both Oblate School of Theology and the Partnership.

Mission Project Service is a Catholic missionary capacity-building platform, dedicated to increasing the skills and effectiveness of missionaries seeking funding for their pastoral and socio-economic projects.  MPS does this by publishing updated, accurate funder information (digital and print) offering educational on-line resources, and providing in-country research and writing workshops for missionary men, women, Sisters, Brothers and Priests.

History of MPSMission Project Service page

MPS was founded by George Cotter, MM (a Maryknoll Missionary) in 1974, who saw the need to provide a link between missionaries’ needs AND funders in both Europe and the United States, who had the interest and financial ability to offer support.

In 1982, the first Agencies Funding Guide was published. Shortly thereafter, MPS was taken over by the Sacred Heart Fathers. Under the leadership of Father Pierre Aubin (Director) and Beverly Hennigan (Executive Director), MPS continued to publish updated versions of the Agencies Funding Guide and also provided formal grant research and writing workshops for English, Spanish and French speaking missionaries. In 2005, The Brothers of Christian Instruction and Walsh University (North Canton, Ohio) assumed MPS operations under the direction of Brother Marcel Sylvestre, FIC.

IN THE LAST DECADE ALONE, THE MPS FUNDING GUIDE HAS BEEN SOLD AND DISTRIBUTED IN OVER 150 COUNTRIES AND WORKSHOPS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO MISSIONARIES ON EVERY CONTINENT.

MPS and the MOP Partnership

Mission Project Service (MPS) is now an outreach of Oblate School of Theology (OST) and a ministry of the US Province of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. MPS is directed by the Missionary Oblate Partnership (MOP), which is also a ministry of the US Province of the Missionary Oblates.
